(Dismissed) WA Standardized Time Zone Act
World Alliance Standardized Time Zone Act
A long needed bill to make role-play and factbook editing a bit easier. For a long time, I've been extremely confused as to what I should put in the "time zone" area when I am creating a wiki-page or factbook. So now, I have created and I wish to present to you, the World Alliance Standardized Time Zone Act. Not only will this give a new field of depth for roleplay, it will give people to ability to say what time it is in one nation when it is a certain time in their nation.
Now I have prepared to answer some of your questions and comments you may have concocted whilst reading this.
Q: "Why do we need this, it's useless?"
A: It may be to you, but for some it is a nice addition for another dimension of roleplay.
Q: "How will this work?"
A: Simple. If it is 00:00 in Paris, it is a certain time in your nation. If it is 00:00 in your nation, it is a certain time in Paris. This would work alongside the WA Calendar Act, thus giving exact dates and times to certain roleplay events.
Q: "How are the time zones divided up?"
A: Extremely easily. There are 24 zones, equally spaced for each hour on the general clock. The last zone (+12, -12) is divided into two, that line will be called the International Date Line. If you cross it going east, you go forward a day, and the opposite if going west.
Q: "What are the time zones called?"
A: I have devised a list that will follow.
Now for the actual body of the post:
Map
full size
1) The World Alliance Map shall be split into 24 even zones.full size
2) Each zone will be given it's own name.
3) Each zone will be given it's own time set, either negative, postive, or neutral.
4) The names and time sets of the time zones will be as follows (respectively with colors going from left to right):
- First Red Zone: Alpha Standard Time (-11 PST)
- First Orange Zone: Beta Standard Time (-10 PST)
- First Yellow Zone: Gamma Standard Time (-9 PST)

7) Time zones with irregular times (not on the hour, i.e. +30 +45) will not be recognized.

The second purple zone should be named the Pan-Yellasian-Texanian timezone, due to both of us being more active than snarfia

Re: (Dismissed) WA Standardized Time Zone Act
It is not a matter of activity, see the Kennyland Standard Time Zone, I've not seen any roleplay from Kennyland ever, but since his nation is majority in the zone, and it is the largest in the zone, it will be named after his nation.Texania wrote:The second purple zone should be named the Pan-Yellasian-Texanian timezone, due to both of us being more active than snarfia
As for Snarfia, it is an extremely large nation in the area. If you don't like it, you can make an appeal later if this passes.

How long did it take you to make the MapArveyres wrote:It is not a matter of activity, see the Kennyland Standard Time Zone, I've not seen any roleplay from Kennyland ever, but since his nation is majority in the zone, and it is the largest in the zone, it will be named after his nation.Texania wrote:The second purple zone should be named the Pan-Yellasian-Texanian timezone, due to both of us being more active than snarfia

Re: (Dismissed) WA Standardized Time Zone Act
We better not expand the map later on, otherwise things are going to go insane

Thank you It just took some dividing and calculating and it was a breeze from there. I hope this bill gets passed!Great Empire of Ireland wrote:and good things usually take along time to makeGreat Empire of Ireland wrote:Because its goodArveyres wrote:About 10-15 minutes, why?Great Empire of Ireland wrote:How long did it take you to make the Map

So if it was 12:00 in Paris it'd be 7:00 in Ivanisgrad because it is PST +7? Time confuses me just trying to understand.

No, Paris is +/- 0, and Ivanisgrad is +5, so if it is 12:00 (PM, I am assuming) in Paris, it is 5:00 PM/17:00. Just add 5 hours.Ivania wrote:So if it was 12:00 in Paris it'd be 7:00 in Ivanisgrad because it is PST +7? Time confuses me just trying to understand.
Re: (Dismissed) WA Standardized Time Zone Act
Very well written. I approve. But would it be possible to redraw the line (just in roleplay) as it passes through my nation so the western line of Paris time follows my western border? Arveyres has done a fantastic job with this map, and I don't want him to have to actually redo it on the map, but during roleplay it would make it easier if Aloia was just divided into two time zones, instead of two large time zones and just a sliver of the country in a third time zone.
Re: (Dismissed) WA Standardized Time Zone Act
Oh yeah, the same for New-Zealand, since Auckland is right on a line, you can use one or the other.Aloia wrote:Very well written. I approve. Re: (Dismissed) WA Standardized Time Zone Act
@Arveyres, I'm sad there is no time zone named after us. :-( But nevertheless, I'm for it! Nice work!
Re: (Dismissed) WA Standardized Time Zone Act
Thanks! You can colloquially call them whatever you would like, but remember your time number +1... etc.Great Eurussia wrote:@Arveyres, I'm sad there is no time zone named after us. :-( But nevertheless, I'm for it! Nice work!

Colloquially? Not officially? :-(((
Anyways, this should be forwarded to Parliament!
Re: (Dismissed) WA Standardized Time Zone Act
Why to the Parliament? It's already in the Council.Great Eurussia wrote:Arveyres wrote:Thanks! Yes. You can call for a vote here, to show a full endorsement of this proposal from the Council. The Parliament must enact thia into a regional law.
Re: (Dismissed) WA Standardized Time Zone Act
So the Council cannot make this a law?Great Eurussia wrote:Great Empire of Ireland wrote:Because this is under Parliament jurisdiction..I thinkArveyres wrote:Why to the Parliament? Of course not. I was suprised you presented it here. I thought you are just asking for opinion. By the way, I request and hope that a time zone be named after Eurussia.
