(Dismissed) Marine Protection Act
A.K.A MARINE PROTECTION ACT
Thus began when fish were dying more than they are reproducing. The protection of our oceans is important to most people. This act can depend on states that fish as a way of life, or heritage. Others want to protect the crystal waters. Remember, if the oceans die, we die. This could alter and make our food supplies drop by a significant 46%, according to one study. Incase this is a wide-spread problem in almost all of the nations, I would like to add this as a 'branch' of an amendment in Eurussian Law.

If not, that is fine. It's just that I think we should add more parameters for protection on out oceans. Thus, I think we should make a fair vote between ALL WASC members. Whaling is also a big problem. Many nations 'whale' (Not to point fingers at anyone) for "scientific research", yet, they are whaling way beyond what they need for their "research". Thus, whaling shall be illegal.
For voting, only all WASC members are allowed to vote on this resolution/act. I hope this is approved by the Eurussian Government. Right now, Marine Protection is a high level emergency.

Re: (Dismissed) Marine Protection Act
Favor, although you must have accidentally posted this in the wrong section..
Re: (Dismissed) Marine Protection Act
I am against an all out ban on whaling, although I could get behind some regulations.
Some people, especially in the extreme north and south, rely on whaling for food, among other things. A complete ban on whaling would destroy an entire industry's worth of jobs. Also, whales can be see as pests in some areas that rely on smaller fish. If you are really interested in keeping the world fed, maybe you should consider the consequence of a ban on whaling.

Re: (Dismissed) Marine Protection Act
There are many things that we find off about this act:
I haven't seen any nations that have shown evidence that supports what you claim here.
Yes, if oceans were living beings, but they aren't; we're talking the animals in the ocean (or in this case one animal) so why are we risking, as Xolox mentioned, national economic collapse over the safety of a single marine animal?
Mentioning the study isn't the same as presenting it to us.
Again, who? Could you point them out?
In summary, I highly doubt this. I would not place marine protection above most of the other events going on right now in the World Alliance. There are too many holes in this act so New Rhodinia is not in favor.

The legislative proposal is open for three (3) days debate and amendments.
Re: (Dismissed) Marine Protection Act
The Eurussian Government seeks clarification on the proposal if this will take effect only on all international waters or will also involve sovereign territorial waters of nations?

Since there is no specification, the law essentially says that Whaling is illegal, regardless of location, if you interpret it as it reads. Although, you may wish to wait for Ebsotz to clarify.

If that is the case, Eurussia is against. We will not allow any infringement of our sovereignty to enact laws for our own nation. If these even passes, Eurussia will surely nullify this via a legal challenge in court.
Thank you.
Re: (Dismissed) Marine Protection Act
We abstain. Serenarea is against whaling, but I agree with Eurussia, this is an infringement on the sovereignty of independent nations. I suggest making whaling in international waters illegal and setting up whaling regulations.

Since our vote on the original proposal didn't seem to carry over, New Rhodinia will stand by our stance against this proposal.
