SciFi/Future Setting?
Would anybody be up for starting optional SciFi/Future news networks? We could run it in a separate "universe" from the current news networks with, of course, a separate space map or something of the sort. This might be fun to get into while the modern RP is getting boring, it would be totally optional, and would have the possible benefit of bringing in some people who have no interest in a modern RP. And if this idea turns out well, maybe we could bring in a few more separate timelines, such as a medieval one or one set in the WWI era.
If we did this, the Roleplay Act would obviously need some modifications, maybe we could multiply the statistics by 10 instead of dividing?

All of my this. I've always found my nation to be that form of post-modern/sci-fi nation and I've been trying to keep it dated to today's era. It'd be a lot cooler to have some RP in a future time frame, not to mention expanded opportunities to do things in spaaaaaaaace!

Same and your recent asteroid posts really made me want to re-embrace it after I already gotten rid of my SciFi/Fantasy(I like the combination, like how Star Wars is) factbook posts.
Re: SciFi/Future Setting?
Does this mean that Artite can finally bust out those awesome star cruisers and act like the Imperium of Man ^U^ cause that is what I really want to do ^U^. Except with all the war...you know more colonization and exploration with the occasional war

Does this mean I can go though with my idea that Atlantica is a race of cyborgs(under rule of an AI) that controls prison labour planets consisted for prisoner slaves turned into mindless drones? Regardless I surport this!

Re: SciFi/Future Setting?
We could make news articles presenting a forward advancement of technology for those who are interested. Anyone that isn't can just stick to their tech era while the rest of us evolve.
That, or we could just make it its own separate branch of World Alliance RP. Make a new forum category labeled "WA Sci-Fi RP" or something so everything in that era can go there.

Can you make a special logo for the WORLD ALLIANCE FUTURISTIC NEWS NETWORK??? :-D
Re: SciFi/Future Setting?
Wether or not I support this idea depends on how far into sci-fi we go.
What I'd like:
- Post-present futuristic technology
- New elements, new technologies
- Moon colonies, or industries
- High-technology arctic-zone colonisation
- Deep-oceanic exploration technologies
- Advanced genetic technologies
- Cloning research breakthroughs
What I wouldn't like:
- Interstellar colonisation
- Planetary empires
- Light-speed or warp travel
- Alien species
- Completely robotic "species"
Summa summarum, near-future technology is completely fine with me.

Well apepistan, we could basically work up to those items you dislike possibly. I like the idea of colonization in space but I'm drawing the line if conflict starts happening up there (between countries.....)

It's okay if we work up to those items, but we should have our pace. I'm afraid that new technology will pop up too soon.

True, I agree that we should slowly work up to it cause it ain't gonna make sense to try to jump the ravine, you take your time and build a bridge.Apepistan wrote:Wirbanskia wrote:Well apepistan, we could basically work up to those items you dislike possibly. Re: SciFi/Future Setting?
I suggest we take one step at a time. Let us not go jump directly into colonization. We haven't even determined yet what kind of Map we will be using or our worlds in a futuristic setting will even look like! We still don't even know the limits of being futuristic! LOL
