Welcome. This is the official forum for the Vinatta Union, where discussion, Parliamentary debate, and voting will take place.
The Union's goal is to unite member states through a diplomatic and economic union without sacrificing their sovereignty or individuality.

Preamble
This Union shall be established between Aloia and Yellasia due to our shared history and close relations. Expansion of the union will only include nations who share significant history with the two nations and who share our common values.
Our goal is to strengthen the ties between our nations; to champion freedom, democracy, and equality; to maintain the rule of law; to promote the fair treatment of all peoples, regardless of race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, or nationality; to encourage economic cooperation, and to unite our nations without sacrificing their sovereignty or individuality.
Article I:
• This union shall be known as the Vinatta Union
• The union shall not interfere with the sovereignty of the member states
• The union will only create laws pertaining to the union, its agencies, common economic policies, and common foreign relations and defence policies, with the consent of the individual member states. Member states shall maintain their right to self-governance in every other way.
• The union will be governed by the Vinatta Parliament
• The Vinatta Parliament will consist of 84 seats, 28 reserved for Aloia, 28 reserved for Greater Yellasia, and 28 reserved for Marquette. Parliament will create and vote on laws pertaining to union matters.
• Elections will be held in each member state every other year in June.
• All citizens over the age of 18 shall have the right to vote in Vinatta Parliamentary elections.
• Presidents of individual Vinatta agencies shall be voted on, with voters choosing from a list of candidates with no regards to the candidate’s country of origin.
• The Union President shall be elected by the Vinatta Parliament, which will change every six months.
• The President shall work with an appointed Council to discuss Union direction, but will have no legislative powers. The council must have members from each member state.
• The union’s official languages shall be English, Ilimilell, Lowspeak, Marquetien, French, Portuguese, Spanish, Dutch, German.
Article II:
• The Vinatta Supreme Court shall be established
• The Court will deal with matters pertaining to the Union, except in extreme cases involving both nations, such as terrorism involving multiple member states.
• If a member state finds a law passed by Parliament in violation of the Vinnata Constitution, they may bring it to this court.
Article III:
• Member states shall engage in free and fair trade with each other; goods should flow freely between member states.
• A central bank shall be established.
• Citizens shall also have the right to free travel between member states.
• Citizens will be entitled to the same residency rights as the citizens as the country they are in, but are not entitled to full citizenship rights (such as the right to vote in Yellasian or Aloian elections).
• Students attending another member state’s schools shall be subject to the same policies and treatment as that nation’s citizens.
Article IV:
• Common defence and foreign policy measures can be passed by Parliament.
• Member states will maintain their own militaries, however joint peacekeeping units can be created by Parliament with the consent of the member states involved.
• Member states agree to mutual defence and will aid each other in the event of invasion.
• Any member state who invades another member state will face immediate suspension.
Article V:
• The following agencies will be in charge of Union related matters, but cannot contradict the policies set by individual member states:
o Humanitarian Aid Office
o Commission for Inter-Member Transportation
o Vinatta Environmental Agency
o Vinatta Research Council
o Vinatta Educational Committee
o Vinatta Space Agency
o Vinatta Cultural Development Programme
Article VI:
• Member states will respect the following rights of their citizens:
o Right to life, prohibition of torture and slavery.
o Respect to personal privacy, the freedom of speech, the freedom of religion, the freedom of thought and conscience, and the right to assembly.
o Provide for equality in education, the work place, marriage, and asylum.
o The right of workers to fair working conditions
o Equality before the law; member states shall not discriminate on the basis of race, nationality, religious affiliation, sexual orientation, sex, gender, or disability.
Article VII:
• Current member states include:
• The Green Federation of Aloia
o The Commonwealth of Aloian Star Systems
o The Commonwealth of New Germaine
• The United Kingdom of Greater Yellasia
o The Kingdom of Yellasia
o The Low Republic
o The Commonwealth of Huskdor
o The Commonwealth of Coreelia
o The Federation of the New Yellasian Space Colonies
• The Constitutional Monarchy of Marquette of Pacific
Currently, entry into the Union will be done via invite only as this is a serious union of nations with common values and strong historical connections rather than just a pact. An application process has yet to be discussed, but it is known expansion will be very limited.

OOC: I have been informed that Aloia is leaving the region (sorry if you didn't want anybody to know yet) and if Aloia does leave, they will still be a part of the Union in theory. :p

Indeed. Yellasia is in the process of setting up a humanitarian mission.

OOC: I think it is time we put this organisation to good use, and will now officially propose a law to be adopted by the Vinnata Union.

Citing the legalisation of slavery in Greecia and its growing use, the Vinnata Union bans the purchase of goods believed to be manufactured by slave labour within the borders of its member states. In addition, the distribution and importation of these goods shall be illegal.
We would like opinions, and then we will put this to a voting session.

Aloia agrees to this law, and wishes to increase its power. We should also ban importing any goods from Greecia, whether slave-made or not, until they eliminate this vile practice.

Marquette has mobilized its military in its entirety and has sent two fleets to join the defense of Coreelia. It is also sending 70,000 men.

Aloia votes yes on the Holy Patrician States' request for membership and we request that our allies contribute at least a small regiment for the defense of the peaceful island nation of Sarvadia. Articmainia has invaded Sarvadia purely on imperialistic motivations and Aloia has mobilized to end this.

The government of New Tarajan wishes to express its esteem for the work of the Vinatta Union, which shares some of its principles with SECURS too.
Since already two SECURS Member States are also participating to the Union, as Secretary General of SECURS New Tarajan asks, if possible, to obtain the position of observer in the Vinatta Union, in the perspective of the enhancement of future cooperation between the two organizations.
