The two nations have both allowed the anti-democratic and anti-religious Luthenian rebels to be admitted to political asylum in either country, calling them "freedom fighters" rather than rebels. This action has sparked outcry in some of the worldwide royalist nations, such as New Tarajan and Marquette, and threatens to increase tension in the region. Antanares has even redeployed troops in Patria to help ensure that the rebels do not escape the country and to apprehend the "killers". Marquetien politicians and military leaders have been working hard to ensure that more ships full of Luthenian rebels are caught, and less of them receive political asylum.

"These people are indeed killers who are against the morals and values of our lovely nation. We implore New-Zealand and Eurussia to revoke their offer to grant political asylum to the Luthenian rebels, and we hope this whole debacle may be over soon." Chancellor Charpentier said today.

Low emigration projected to slow Yellasian economy

Yellasia's economic forecast is less optimistic than previously thought as millions of Lows leave the Low Republic, according to Yellasia's Ministry of Finance. The Yellasian economy is projected to slow, but it is highly unlikely that Yellasia will enter a recession.

Since the end of the World War against UCCP and the subsequent unification of the Kingdom of Yellasia and the Low Republic, an economic boom has led Yellasia to the forefront of the world economy. The United Kingdom of Greater Yellasia is now the second-largest economy in the world (OOC: only factoring in participating nations), with Yellasia contributing most of the United Kingdom's GDP.

At the same time, millions of Lows have relocated to Yellasia or emigrated from the Kingdom altogether, which has halted the Republic's individual growth and threatens its strong manufacturing sector. Yellasia's economy revolves around high tech and service based industries, with some help from infrastructure development and a small manufacturing sector. Over 2/3 of the manufacturing in the United Kingdom is done in the Low Republic.

New national budget revealed



The People's House of Assembly in the City of Yell has agreed on a new budget amidst fears of an economic slowdown in the United Kingdom of Greater Yellasia. The budget aims to increase social equality spending, public sector output, diversify the military, all while continuing to fund Yellasia's successful health care and education systems.

Yellasia, once being the most economically equal nation in the world, has fallen down the list considerably. The new emphasis on social equality spending aims to make progress in reducing growing economic inequalities in Yellasia, which while not particularly bad, are a weary sign. The spending should also discourage further migration from the Low Republic, as well as increase the quality of life in the Low Republic (once more prosperous than Yellasia), Coreelia, and Huskdor, the latter being the worst off.

The House of Low unexpectedly increased taxes in the Low Republic to fund better public works projects and to improve the environment. Huskdor- an extremely pacifist nation- has finally approved the creation of a Huskdor regiment in the Yellasian Armed Forces to create jobs. Military spending is now more evenly distributed; no longer mainly supporting Yellasia's advanced navy.

Administration costs took cuts, while police funding saw a one percent decrease.

United Kingdom of Greater Yellasia experiences first impact of the Global Economic Crisis



Greater Yellasia has felt the first effects of the Global Economic Crisis, sparked by the collapse of the Dromodian economy. The mainland economy has only seen a minor shakeup, with petrol prices slightly rising (a small portion of Yellasia's oil is imported from Panaulas), the export market down, and Yellasia's massive tourism industry declining due to the lack of Dromodian tourists, who benefit from a nearby geographic location and a free-travel agreement.

While the overall GDP slowing, Yellasia is not yet in a recession. However, new problems have arisen in the Commonwealth of Huskdor, the most economically deprived country in the United Kingdom. The Bank of Huskdor may fail, and already Huskdorians are making bank runs. Currently, Huskdorians live on $290 a month before Yellasian provided benefits, which increase their standard of living considerably. Unemployment stands at 9%, which is expected to increase to well over 10%. The Huskdorian Crisis may push Greater Yellasia over the edge.

Prime Minister Samantha Williams of the Socialist Party of New-Zealand failed to meet the deadline set by her very own party. After her decision to get involved in capturing the Articmainian and Japanese Paeninsula's during the Coreelian crisis that ultimately saw New-Zealand besieged by the Articmainian forces. At the conclusion of the war it was apparent that the NZ Economy has taken a heavy beating from the siege, one that was blamed fully on the decision of Ms Williams. In response to this her very own party, "The Socialist Party", demanded that she fix the economic damage within the next year, or be replaced. As it turns out, Williams managed to recover the economy and set it going once more... Only a bit too late. The economy may be growing faster than it was before, but it lost a lot of time, and still failed to catch up. Therefore, Ms. Williams was demoted to position as Minister of Welfare, and the Prime Ministerial role was taken up by none other than her very own cousin Jacob Williams. Mr. Williams started out as a soldier in the prestigious NZ 5th Battalion, which served during the World War. He rose swiftly to the position of Lieutenant, Commander, and finally Admiral due to his shrewd military capability and notoriously cunning battle strategies. After his retirement from military service (at age 40), he became politically active and rose through the ranks of the Socialist Party, finally taking up position as Defense Minister under the leadership of Michael Jefferson, and later Samantha Williams. Though his moment of glory came when he refused to leave NZ, unlike the other Ministers, during the Articmainian siege. Instead he remained and commandeered the underground resistance that ultimately overthrew Articmainian forces and disabled the defense grid, allowing NZ forces to recapture the mother land. From that moment on he was considered a hero by the people and lived in the fifteen minutes of fame, that in his case seems to never fade. He is a keen Socialist who has won the heats of the people through both his bravery, and his patriotic compassion. There is not a better man who could lead the Social Democracy to glory as a Superpower.

The reconstruction of Korya goes on for several weeks now, but just yesterday the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Works, the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy have announced the investment plan in Korya, officially called "Plan KIPIR" (Korya Investments Project for Reconstruction and Infrastructure).
The plan was presented to the press yesterday morning, stated in a conference, point by point, without neglecting any detail.
For greater transparency, the full text of the plan is entirely available online, on the website of the Government.

In this way, anyone can read it and judge it.

The plan provides for the allocation, from Europe, of several tens of billions, as well as substantial resources from the Fund for Reconstruction of the WAHO (World Alliance Humanitarian Organization).
To carry out some work will be the forces of WAHO (which are being used for building highly specialized, given their great preparation.
Participate in the reconstruction, in addition to state-owned enterprises, also private construction companies, which in part, albeit minimal, finance the works of their own pocket.
These companies use materials wholly manufactured in Europe, so this is a big for the national economy.

Even citizens of the city and state Cayenne, which are often considered much more liberal than the rest of Sokolia, have voiced their support for the laws that require immigrants from the nations of Bharatpur and Afsharistan to have much more scrutiny upon them than immigrants from neighboring nations like Texania and even Articmainia.

LIBERAL PARTY PROTESTS CATHAM ISLANDS

There has been a sharp rise in protests by the Marquetien Liberal Party (referred to as the Pink Roses Party in Marquette or the PRP) in recent months. The Pink Roses have been on the rise for decades, and they dominated Marquetien parliament for two consecutive terms, while former-Chancellors Georges Pierre and Pieter Leeuwenhoek respectively were in office. However, five years ago in the last Chancellory elections, Joseph Charpentier of the Marquetien Conservative Party (referred to as the Renéan Guards of Marquette or the RGM) took office and it seemed that Marquette was reverting back to its Conservative ideals. Many agree that Charpentier has been a good leader of the Marquetien States during his five years in office, and his approval ratings are around 59%. Many Marquetiens think their country is backwards and outdated, and the PRP say the RGM is ruining the country with its Conservative ideals. Liberals around Marquette, especially Wyland, have protested around the U.K. at RGM headquarters and political buildings.

So far, the protests have been peaceful. But as Parliament tackles the hot button issue of homosexual marriage next month, tensions are expected to rise between the two ends of the political spectrum.

Today's presidential and congressional elections in the USS will be critical in determining the future of the USS. The three primary candidates in the presidential election all have distinctly different visions for one of the largest and most powerful nations in the World Alliance.

Cedar Sallawai: Sallawai has served as a fiery Speaker of the House for the last 4 years. Originally thought of as an underdog, this politician has secured the presidential nomination for the Conservative Party. Sallawai has stated that he would like to form a large alliance with other influential, conservative nations in the WA.

Timothy Goldberg: This career politician has served 6 terms in the Senate and is the most recognizable face in Schorrian politics today. Goldberg is running independently. He hopes to get the USS more involved in regional politics by running for a Parliamentary or COJ seat next WA election cycle.

Red Weaver: The most radical of the three candidates is running for the relatively new Power Party. Weaver has suggested an expansion of the USS and an ending of diplomatic relations with all socialist or communist nations. Little else is known of this new face in Schorrian politics except that he is incredibly charismatic and persuasive.

Currently, Sallawai leads with 40% of the vote thus far, Golberg has 25% and Weaver has a surprisingly strong 35%. Keep in mind that only 10% of the population has reported to the polls thus far and these results are far from final.

GRANADA, San Francisco, Aloia == Today marks the 25th anniversary of the final ratification of the Articles of Union, uniting the Green Federation of Aloia with the Kingdom of Genolia to form the Imperial Union of Aloia and Genolia. Since then, the Kingdom of Sokolia has been added, changing the name to the Imperial Union of Aloia, Genolia, and Sokolia. Queen Marina was dressed in traditional Genolian mountain garb and traveled around the twin cities of San Francisco and Granada in an open carriage with her husband, the new leader of the Holy Patrician States.

Late in the day, the Queen traveled to La Alhambra, the traditional home of the Genoli royal family before their line was ended in a tragic plane crash. Since the Union, the royals of the House of Nordahl have made La Alhambra their home. Its location in the city of Granada, which is very near to the Aloian capital of San Francisco, makes it an ideal location for the Queen, who often delivers speeches or interacts with senators in Union Hall.

The Articles of Union were signed in La Alhambra, and so it made it the perfect place for the Queen to deliver her speech. Elsewhere in the IU, the day was celebrated with parades, fireworks, and ceremonies. In Port Royale, the former capital of Aloia, it was celebrated with a massive parade and a huge street dance down the well-known Avenue de la Liberté. Fireworks went off all night in Port Royale, and the celebration in the former capital has been called, "the party to end all parties."

With around 75% of the country reporting, Cedar Sallawai still leads by a very slim margin of 38%. In second place is Red Weaver with 37% and in third is Timothy Goldberg with 25%. Weaver is keeping it incredibly close which is a bit frightening. If Weaver comes away with a victory, friendly relations with ALL socialist nations will come to an end. This includes the USS's oldest and closest ally, New Zealand. Analysts around the World Alliance are concerned that the election of Weaver would result in a dramatic loss of stability in the region.

FUERTAVENTURA RECEIVES RECORD BREAKING NUMBERS OF PILGRIMS

As the year comes to an end, a record-braking amount of pilgrims from all over the world have come to visit Fuertaventura, the home of Marquetien Orthodoxy and over 200 million faithful. Patriarch Bartholomew II has stated that he is delighted to see so many pilgrims come to the city where Marquette was officially unified under one religion, and he is especially happy to see so many young, eager Marquetiens ready to carry the next generation of Orthodoxy. One Fuertaventura's main industries is tourism, and with so many making a pilgrimage to the country, the economy is booming. With the economies of all the Marquetien States booming under increased tourism, huge petroleum sales, and an influx of Cathamian businesses, the future of the United Kingdom of Greater Marquette economically has never looked brighter. Politically, however, it looks as though the Pink Rose Party is gaining favor in the eyes of young people. It is becoming all too obvious as to how split the next generation of Marquetiens are politically.

All this must be done within 90 days of the entry into force of the law.
