SAN FRANCISCO, San Francisco, Aloia == Aloia Secretary for the Environment Marshall Eriksen congratulated Eurussia on finally meeting international standards for green energy. Aloia and a number of other nations have long had methods of capturing renewable energy in place, and Eriksen expressed relief that Great Eurussia has finally gotten on the green bandwagon. Aleksandar Vučić: Cathamian candidate from the local CIRP (Catham Islands Republican Party), aged 68, seeks to increase individual freedoms, reduce government controls and regulations over the UK's economy, expand the military, and reduce the people's reliance upon government. He also supports strong family values and giving parents the freedom to raise their children without government interference. He wants to act toward reducing abortion rates and sexual activity among adolescents. Supports the re invigoration of Serbian identity and their role in the new United Kingdom. Believes that the members sates of the United Kingdom should be given more autonomy over domestic issues, while encouraging common dialogue and understanding of the different cultures making up the Kingdom. Encourages movement of citizens within the United Kingdom while also strengthening immigration laws directed towards external nations.

While speculators believe that Mr. Vučić will not be receiving many votes from outside the Catham Islands, he stands for several ideals that many Marqutiens stand for.

After much debate, Chancellor Zheng approved the plan to terraform Plantian desert interior. "It is a great opportunity" says Minister of Environment Fleur Eliot, "We can get rid of the horrid desert and fill it with farm and wildlife.

-SHANGHOU- The city of Shanghou is for the first time a 15 Delegate city because of its size.




-KYONGDONG- the City of kyongdong is the only city who may send 50 delegates or more and the elections are going to be very chaotic.

Last time on the Fengo Jillin Festival where people could vote for their own mayor there were more than 1.320 casualty's because of just the pressure of big crowds.

NZ has officially commissioned it's new environmentally friendly hydroelectric dam scheme. The New "Run-of-the-river" power stations are the brainchild of a group of aspiring New Zealand environmental scientists from Manukau Institute of Technology, and was further refined by top researchers at the Department of Electricity in conjunction with the Ministry of Conservation. Though the dams are not extraordinary in terms of power generation, their environmental damage is near to none. The brilliant thing with Run-of-the-river hydroelectric power stations (dams) is that there is absolutely no need to flood any of the land, it simply works on the existing river flow. The flagship dam of this nature, "Savage Dam", is the most powerful, and is named after the great NZ Prime Minister Michael Joseph Savage.

Together the new environmentally friendly dams have a combined peak output of 14,812 MW. This is still around 10,000 MW lower than the Three Gorges Dam (Dromoda) which currently holds the position as largest Hydroelectic powerplant in the world. However, these environmentally friendly dams are only intended to aid the Hydrogen Fusion Plants in handling the power load. Currently there are 4 Hydrogen Fusion Plants, each generating a whopping 18,712 MW. Together these dams alongside the 4 Hydrogen Fusion Plants, sustain the majority of NZ's notoriously high power consumption, per capita NZ consumes the most electricity, the third most water, and the most petroleum (We also have the most cars per capita).

Low Republic passes controversial laws targeting crime, safety, and pollution



The House of Low has passed several laws aimed to limit crime, improve safety, and curb pollution. This fresh round of laws contains the most ambitious policies ever taken in the Low Republic to reduce crime and pollution on a local level. The Low Republic was recently revealed to have the second highest crime rate in the World Alliance.

Gun laws, already strict in Greater Yellasia, have been further tightened in the Low Republic, with a strict gun-tracking system to be put in place. The Low Police Force have also been given greater power regarding surveillance.

More money is being put into public transportation than ever before. The bus system is being completely overhauled and a restrictions to automobile use have been put in place in some cities such as Low City, where fees are being charged for automobile use in some areas and new policies encouraging carpooling are now in place.

These moves have resulted in raging debate. Some support the measures, arguing that the guidelines set in the City of Yell are not enough; others vehemently oppose them, seeing them as a violation of their rights and against the principles of the Low Republic. There are still lingering effects of the economic crisis, and many Lows fear the measures will discourage economic growth.

Protesters are forming a petition to challenge the laws in the House of Assembly.

Inside Look: What is going on inside the Low Republic?



The Low Republic- the second largest constituent country of the United Kingdom of Greater Yellasia- is facing yet another round of instability. Crime, poor health, and poor environmental conditions continue to be challenging issues, and today the House of Low passed another controversial law, this one placing regulations on soda companies and guidelines for fast-food restaurants. The Low Republic has the highest crime rate in the World Alliance, sparking new reforms and ever-increasing instability accompanied by political deadlock.

So why is this happening? The Low Nation was poor and underdeveloped for most of its history. Industrialism was introduced in small doses in the late 19th-century, taking off in full force in the early 20th century. During the oil boom of the 1980s that led to business mogul Dr. Low's usurpation of power, the nation became moderately wealthy, and some positive reforms were introduced, such as the granting of women's suffrage in 1991. At the same time, class inequalities developed, the environment dealt great damage, corruption persisted, and organised crime flourished.

The unification with Yellasia brought significant improvements to the Low Republic's political system and ended much of the human right's abuses that were occurring. Wealth was slightly increased and the wealth gap was narrowed. But it has not been enough. Millions of Lows have emigrated, leaving the Republic a weakened version of what it once was. Some neighbourhoods are entirely abandoned, flanked by decaying houses. Crime  and gang violence decreased initially, but has now reached an all-time high.

Absolute poverty is non-existent in the Low Republic, and Yellasia's introduction of welfare programmes and improved homeless shelters has improved living conditions in its large lower-class, but these expensive efforts have not been enough. A tour of Low City symbolises the situation that plagues the Republic. Gleaming skyscrapers and well-to-do gated communities exist side-by-side with housing projects and homeless shelters. This class-divide is tied to the growing crime issue.

This brings us to today- the day that the devolved Low government has taken drastic measures to end these problems. The cost however, is renewed political instability. The right-wing 'Low Coalition' (named after the sovereign state proceeding the First Low Republic)- consisting of the Low National Party, local Conservative Party members, and several independents compete with the left-wing coalition- the Low Progress Party and local Socialist Party members. Extremist groups, with the backing of the Low Independence Party, have even announced a plan to free Dr. Low from house arrest and restore his rule. The path to stability will not be an easy one.

The Social Democracy of New-Zealand has taken another leap forward in it's efforts to reduce it's electricity deficit and perhaps one day achieve a healthy surplus. This morning Genesis energy announced in a press conference that it has been all go by government Health and Safety inspectors for it's newly build Hydrogen Fusion power station, code named "Gamma". The Gamma complex will become the world's largest fusion plant when it is started up for the first time tomorrow morning. The complex will consist of 6 "Goliath Class" fusion reactors each pounding out 16,000 MW. Together the complex could generate a ridiculously large 96,000 MW. This is enough to sustain just under 1/4 of New-Zealand's entire electricity consumption and indefinitely place the country is an enviably electricity surplus. However, the Genesis Energy spokesperson did state that the only four reactors will be active for now, and none of them will be working at full capacity due to the the incredible heat generation, which he claimed would "Be not financially viable, especially since we have spare reactors". Basically what he means is that running 4 at moderate intensity works out cheaper than running 2 at high intensity, due to the 2 creating more heat. He did however state that due to the growing electricity demand in New-Zealand, the remaining two reactors will probably be activated by the end of the decade.

Joseph Charpentier, Marquette's Chancellor



It has been a long race, and over a year and a half of intense debating between the United Kingdom's political parties, but the results are in, and Marquetiens have re-elected Joseph Charpentier as chancellor. Charpentier will serve as the UK's leader for another six years.

Charpentier received 36 Electoral Votes, thus meeting the simple requirement that a candidate receive the most votes to win. In second place, however, was the underdog, Aleksandar Vučić, whom few political enthusiasts expected to get far.

This year, Parliamentary elections for the House of Statutes and the Senate also took place. The results of the House of Statutes are as follows:

RHODES ELECTED CHANCELLOR OF IMPERIAL UNION

SAN FRANCISCO, San Francisco, Aloia == After a long campaign against her Blue Party opponent, Caroline Rhodes has been elected Chancellor of the Imperial Union of Aloia, Genolia, and Sokolia. Caroline Rhodes is a former governor of the state of Alexandria and a cousin of Hadrian Rhodes, former Governor General of the Federation of Aloia. She is also a member of the influential Rhodes family who have had at least one member in the Aloian legislature for every term since 1946. The Rhodes family also heads Rhodes United Industries, one of the largest companies in Aloia, and they have been called Aloia's Second Royal Family.

Chancellor Rhodes will be taking over from Jeanne Beauchene, who served as the first Chancellor of the Imperial Union for 12 years since the beginning of the Imperial Union following the Unification, being re-elected 3 times. Beauchene took over from Georgia Osterreich, who served as the last Governor General of the Federation of Aloia, preceded by Hadrian Rhodes. Chancellor Rhodes was originally a teacher in the City of Alexandria, later representing the city in the state senate, before becoming governor of the State of Alexandria. After being governor of Alexandria, she served as the Aloian ambassador to Dromoda for a time before returning to the IU to run for Chancellor.

The wording of the bill allows for other nations allied with Aloia to join the program in the future. Aloian officials hope New-Zealand, New Tarajan, Antanares, and Ayrveyres will jump on board.

SAN FRANCISCO, San Fran., Aloia == Chancellor Caroline Rhodes attended her first meeting of the Senate since becoming Chancellor today. Her intentions were to welcome new Senators who were elected in the recent primary election and introduce a bill that will establish a student exchange program with one of Aloia's allies, Marquette of Pacific. The bill will allow students from Marquette to study in Aloia, and Aloian students to study in Marquette.

The Imperial Senate is the lower house of the IU Congress and is based on population. For example, more populous states like Alexandria and Arkania have more representatives while less populous states like Upper Sokolia and Madra have only a couple representatives. The bill will have to pass through the Senate to the High Council. The High Council is made up of one representative from each state and is the upper house of Congress. The bill has a lot of support from both of Aloia's major parties, the Green Party and Blue Party, and the moderately-successful White Party. The bill is expected to fly through both houses of Congress.

Articmainian government has legalized gay marriage

Through careful consideration and debating the great and all mighty government has decided to legalize Gay marriage. The Emperor says "if some people want to be gay and some want to be straight than so be it Articmainia shall follow its way of being an Imperial country but yet still adding a touch of Democracy making Articmainia a lawful and orderable country but still having a powerful and expanding Empire." The Emperor wants the best of his people just as his brother John Wallace had and shall not have his wishes go in vain.

Citizens of New Paristan are lining up to cast votes in the first free election since the disastrous civil war that tore our country apart. Interim Administrator Jean Marc Valjean says he is "confident" that the election will "run smoothly and produce a fair result."

Early polls conducted by this news service show Valjean's party, the Free Republicans, garnering a staggering 65% of the vote, a strong rebuke to the proletarian anarchists who many see as the cause of the recent civil war. In campaign speeches, Valjean has proclaimed that "a free country needs a free market," and has vowed to strip away "unnecessary and onerous labor regulations burdening the Paristani entrepreneur."

In addition to open markets, Valjean's interim administration has been working to build up New Paristan's military capability, which the proletarian anarchists had previously decimated. "We must protect our homeland from foreign interference," said Valjean, "and so my administration will be looking for any opportunity to boost our military readiness."

The sham elections being conducted by Valjean and his cronies are rigged like no election has ever been rigged before. Valjean has outlawed dissenting media outlets, has put in place voting restrictions that mean, effectively, that no Free Worker will be able to vote, and has carried out a campaign of intimidation and fear to ensure victory for the capitalists.

The Free Workers won't stand idly by and watch this happen. When the Free Republicans win this election against the inept Social Democratic opposition party, which was itself founded by Valjean's cronies to create the illusion of a real election, the Free Workers will make sure the Paristani people know what really happened.

The days of the true political crisis storming over New Tarajan seem to have passed out, however the balance of power in the political arena remains extremely fragile, as demonstrated by the recent events in the Royal Diet.
The decision of the new Rumaki government to propose a law to reform the Tarajani healthcare system encountered serious obstacles in the Royal Diet, due to the strong opposition of the "right-wing" parties, the Royal Tarajan Party and the White Party, which are firmly against the new social-democratic attituted of the Royal Council (even if they looked with favour to the appointment of Jan Van Egeland-Sondenburg, a member of the TSDP, as Minister for Foreign Affairs).
While the Royal Council, and the TSDP above all, tried with every mean to remove the obstacles to a clean approval by the Diet, claiming the "disastrous conditions of our healthcare system, which saw only continous budget-cuts and no improvements since years" (these are the words used by Wali Nasim Shatrevar, Minister of Health and Welfare, during his speech), the R.T.P. and the Whites criticize the unusefulness of the law, and the heavy problems it could create to the national budget.



To resolve the political impasse, the Landsraad finally decided to intervene.
The Tarajani constitutional laws (represented by the Declaration of Regeneration issued by King Conrad III almost seventy years ago) allow the Landsraad to literally "bypass" the Diet in case of impasse in the legislation process.
For obvious reasons, it is not a common solution, due also to the reticence of the Lords of the Landsraad to directly interfere in the fights between the parties, thus altering the political balance of the Kingdom.
However, the call of Prime Minister Rumaki seems to have done its effect, and the Lord President of the Landsraad, Prince Maximilian Van Sondenburg, announced today that "the Landsraad agreed in taking directly under its attention and supervision the Healthcare Law proposed by the Royal Council", thus ousting the Diet from the process.
Actually, the main concern now is to see if this intervention will provoke further political fight inside the Diet, creating a spiral where the Landsraad will find itself involved in an attempt to avoid a total breakdown of the legislation processes, or if the two wings of the Tarajani political world will find again a way to the compromise, possibly not undermining the position of the Prime Minister, and thus once again the choice of King Friederick Wilhelm to follow a liberal/social-democrat friendly line.

The answer lies with the fact that most of Holden NZ's exports go to it's subsidiaries, which then modify and tailer the final touchup's to the Base/Skeleton model that was sent by Holden NZ (These final touch ups are done in Assembly plant's in the nation of the Subsidiary). As a result of this, Holden "exports" have technically dropped, as you can't sell to yourself. Regardless of the fact that the nation is in reality running a trade surplus, for all factual purposes the Social Democracy is technically in a trade deficit.

QUEEN ANNE ISLAND, Arkania, Aloia == Freedom Tower, located in downtown Queen Anne Island, has passed the Sears Tower in Saint Lawrence, Electra, to be named the tallest building in the Imperial Union. Queen Anne Island is the largest city in the IU, and was the target of a massive terror attack which led Aloia into a war with the former nation of Rebordja. The terrorists from Rebordja flew two planes into the Mnemosyne Trade Center towers, bringing Aloia's two tallest buildings down, killing approximately 2,000 people. Aloia then entered a war against terror in Rebordja, leading to the collapse of Rebordja.

Since then, a tower has been rebuilt on the former location of the towers, named Freedom Tower. The new tower is a symbol for Aloia's new start after the attack and how it arose, stronger than ever, to stand for freedom and democracy. The tower is on the same site as the Mnemosyne Trade Center Museum and the two reflecting pools where the bases of the twin towers were.
