Tragedy struck Novo Canuckia today when Prezident Alexi Kamenkov was killed in a random shooting in the city of Cathair Mórghléas, once the capital of the Empire of Novo Canuckia. The Prezident was in the city on vacation with his family, and was returning from a visit to the Imperial Palace via the Sráid Céad (the oldest street in Novo Canuckia; it is only open to pedestrians) when a gunman produced a weapon and began threatening a group of young women. The Prezident placed himself in front of the women just before the shooter opened fire. Prezident Kamenkov was shot 5 times in the chest and quickly died. Upon recognizing the Prezident, the crowd in the street began attacking the gunman. A total of eight other bystanders were injured, one of whom later died in hospital. After a brief struggle the gunman was beaten to death by the irate mob. A state funeral will be held on Saturday for the Prezident. Parliament has been suspended until Sunday, at which time a temporary replacement will be found to serve the remainder of the four year term.

ALOIAN SPACE AGENCY ANNOUNCES INTERPLANETARY COLONIZATION



The Aloian Space Agency has released a statement saying they've already begun colonization of a nearby Earth-like planet, named Aetramundi, after the Aloian queen, Aetra III. The Agency has not released information on the location of the planet for worry that larger nations might swoop in and take it, but they have said its system is surrounded by an enormous nebula that hides it from most scans.

The planet was only discovered when an Aloian space probe went off course and ended up in the system. Aloians are very proud of their young but productive space agency.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of the Interior, Internal Security Intelligence Service have closed the investigation against captured terrorists as a result of the attack on the military base than a week ago.
