Early elections set for Coreelia and Huskdor

After demands for early elections in Yellasia's new autonomous countries have been made in the midst of economic problems, Yellasia has set an election date of May 15th in each of the countries.

The provisional governments have made an agreement with Yellasia outlining their new powers which includes self-governance of all domestic affairs, the creation of a national guard, and participation in international organisations partially on their own terms. Yellasia will control the military and foreign affairs, and the autonomous countries will maintain a special form of Yellasian citizenship.

Yellasia has agreed to bailout the new governments as well as pay for all unemployment benefits for an indefinite period of time.

In Coreelia, three large parties have emerged: the right wing Coreelia National Party, the centre-right People's Action Party, and the left wing Coreelian Socialist Party.

In Huskdor, the left wing Huskdor Socialist Party, the centre-left Reform Party, and centre-right Huskdor Conservative Party have gained popular support.

The New-Zealand Government (Socialist Party) has announced that effective tommorow, the tax system will undergo heavy reforms in which will drop the average tax rate by 5%. These tax cuts will be focussed more on reducing the burden on lower class citizens. The rich, however, should not expect to gain anything out of this tax reform.

The Finance Minister had this to say :

Citing the booming Economy and the lump some revenue we manage to gather from our state owned assets, especially automobile manufacturer Holden, I believe it is time we reduced the tax burden on our lower class. There should be no real drop in government budget as this drop in revenue will be substituted by revenue gains from SOE's. I would also like to emphasise that this tax cut will not affect the rich upper class New-Zealanders, Only the lower class and middle class will gain from this.

Minister of Justice Announces That the Government Will Not Interfere With Drug Smuggling Case



Minister of Justice, Christiane Taubira, made an appearance earlier today to face growing international pressure for government intervention in the Eurussian drug smuggling case.

“Our government has no desire to impede on the investigative or judiciary processes involving the three Eurussian men and we trust that our court system will be able to uphold our laws in a fair and open-minded manner. We also do not see any need for change with regard to our current capital punishment laws which were recently reintroduced due to strong public support. The men have already admitted that they were well aware of our stance toward drugs before they attempted to smuggle it into the country and our government does not express any sympathy towards them. If the trio get sentenced to death they will be put do death. However, it is important to note that our courts have not had to sentence someone to death for the possession of drugs for the past four years and that the men could possibly get off with the minimum 15 years imprisonment. With regards to the Eurussian government we request that they stop hindering the processing of the individuals and recognise the fact that that they have severe security problems to attend to.”

You do realise that despite the fact that the US and Iran have no formal diplomatic relations US citizens are not prohibited from travelling to Iran; In fact US citizens do not even need a visa to enter the Iranian Kish Island. It is also possible for US citizens to travel to North Korea despite the fact that the two nations have no formal relations.

The New-Zealand Foreign Minister has announced that The Social Democracy of New-Zealand will stand by the claims and actions of the Chatham Islands. The Foreign Minister also went on to say that he condemns Eurussia for interfering in the judicial process and also warned the Eurussian government that he would not tolerate any agression towards Chatham Islands that is linked directly to this case. He also stated that "Though New-Zealand beleives in a strict policy of NO Capital Punishment, the suspects were operating under Chatam Islands jurisdiction so we believe that the Chatam Islands has the right to give them Capital Punishment if the court rules in favor of that action."

EUROPE AND ASIA CONDEMNS CATHAM ISLANDS



Foreign Minister Vladaf Condemned the Catham Islands, stating:

"The Arrest and trial of Eurussian citizens is condemned by the Commonwealth. Citizens if foreign nations should be tried by international law unless the offense was deemed to be terrorist in nature. These citizens should have been tried by an independent third party, or by an international court made up of third parties."

Aloia and the Catham Islands are both Eznurf Pact nations and so they share a closer affiliation than most nations share with each other. The nations have free trade with each other and have a very strong relationship.

The Ministry of Defense has announced the start of the Joint Naval Exercises between the Dromodan People's Republic Forces and the Eurussian Imperial Armed Forces.

The Joint Naval Exercises is being conducted at the vast Dromoda Sea aimed on testing their naval capabilities and practicing naval maneuvers in the vast body of water.

The exercises between Eurussia and Dromoda also aimed at conducting drills on large ocean rescue operations and disaster preparedness to prepare the two massive navies in immediate deployment on natural disasters. The said exercises was personally inaugurated by the Chairman Mao of the People's Republic of Dromoda.

Yellasia and Low Republic to begin talks for the first time since 1937

Low President Dr. Low has agreed to meet with Yellasian Prime Minister Carl Avery on May 5th at a milestone conference to ease tensions between the two nations which have been divided since the end of the Third Low War.

Carl Avery has listed the objectives of introducing limited economic activity between the two, including the opening of the joint industrial zone (which has already been built but has not been opened), resolving border disputes, easing travel restrictions between the two, and starting the path towards reunification.

Dr. Low remains distrustful, and is primarily interested in resolving border disputes to prevent conflict.

The former province of 'Old-Land' has officially declared independence from Marquette. They have renamed it to the Sacred Archduchy of Fuerteventura, and the capital is Fuerteventura, the Holy City of Marquetien Orthodoxy. This has been a very controversial move, as 84% of Marquetiens are Christian, and about 76% of Marquetiens are Marquetien Orthodox.

The Marquetien government has yet to decide whether or not war will be declared against the Sacred Archduchy, as war will mean loss of Marquette's access to its religion's holy city. The nation is also now in turmoil, as it has lost its Archbishop, as well as four Cardinals. The remaining Cardinals will vote for an Archbishop of Llihyar, the second most religious city in Marquette.

the harvest of this year is better than last year and due the introduction of new irrigation systems from the Dromodian markets the harvest is a great success

The Catham Islands Tightens Grip On Immigration


A new Aerial Border Patrol Unit in action

National Front’s bill advocating significant changes in immigration laws was passed earlier today with overwhelming support from both parliament and the general public. The bill is National Fronts retaliation to growing crime and unemployment rates which they believe to be directly linked to immigrants and tourists entering The Catham Islands. The new system will impose greater restrictions on who can enter the country while also introducing a compulsory Biometric ID Card system to allow the Ministry of Immigration to track the movements of foreigners within The Catham Islands. Here is a brief summary of the newly implemented immigration laws

1) Entry Permit
All foreigners intending on visiting The Catham Islands must apply for an Entry Permit which is approved on a case-by-case basis. The Entry permit must be used in the same way as the Biometric National ID Cards. They will require a retinal scan and fingerprint from each applicant, each card will be registered in the Ministry of Immigration’s Database which will record all of its actions. Citizens of an Eznurf Pact member state are entitled to stay 45 days on an Entry Permit whereas citizens of non-member states are only entitled to 14 days. Holders of an Entry Permit are forbidden to work or study in The Catham Islands.

2) Working Permit
The Working Permit is only available to citizens of Eznurf Pact member states over the age of 21 and acts the same way as a Biometric National ID Card. The Working Permit entitles the holder to stay in The Catham Islands for a maximum of 12 months at which point the person must leave the country or reapply. The holder of a Working Permit is also entitled to sit The Catham Islands drivers test.

3) Citizenship
An immigrant can apply for citizenship in The Catham Islands once they have worked in the country for a minimum of 5 years. Citizenship cannot be acquired through marriage or family reunification. The Catham Islands also does not allow or recognize dual citizenship.

4) Deportation
The police force will be provided with the resources required for effectively locating and deporting any illegal, criminal and unemployed immigrants hiding in The Catham Islands. Individuals found to be housing illegal immigrants will be severely punished and a hotline will be set up to for citizens to give tips and aid investigations.

The Minister of Finance, on the sidelines of his successful trip in Yellasia, has confirmed that the two governments have formalize their diplomatic relations and opened both their countries for business opportunities. He also commended their government for pursuing peace talks with the Low Republic.

On the other hand, the Ministry of Defense has announced that the Commonwealth of Europe & Asia will conduct joint military exercises on their shores with the Imperial Armed Forces aimed in their commitment for mutual defense and solidarity.

Yellasia and the Low Republic peace talks results

Yellasian Prime Minister Carl Avery and Low President Dr. Low met today at City of Yell as planned.

The two agreed to 'put aside the issue of borders', effectively deciding to not challenge each other's claims (although the two still officially claim the entire area of both countries as their own). The joint industrial zone near the border has now been given the green light to open.

Travel restrictions between the two have been slightly eased, although not as much as Avery was hoping. Yellasia has decided to allot more work permits to Low citizens although the visa/border process remains strict on either side of the border. Yellasians no longer have to enter via air through the capital, and are allowed in some previously prohibited areas.

For the first time since the 1940s (when Yellasia was offering some food as aid to the Low Republic), trade has been partially opened up between the two nations. The Low Republic has put a strict quota on the number of Yellasian goods allowed in, and on the exports going to Yellasia.

When asked about the possibility of reunification, Dr. Low refused to respond.

Coreelia Crisis worsens- strikes across nation


Coreelia's economy continues to plunge as strikes have risen up across the autonomous nation demanding Yellasia provide more relief, which it will not do until after Coreelia's elections, which have already been set for an early date. Yellasia currently is paying for Coreelia's unemployment and welfare benefits in an attempt to prevent the quality of life from plunging and to maintain the islands' reputation as welcoming and stable.

Coreelia's GDP is already only 28% of what it was before the crisis. Unemployment is approaching 15%, and could get much higher if the nation's two manufacturing plants shut down. The small nation of just over 64,000 has seen 600 citizens flee to Yellasia.

Yellasia has a bailout already planned, but will need Coreelian approval before it can be enacted.

In other news, Huskdor is on track for recovery, and Yellasia proper's economy is expected to regain momentum in the next quarter.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, who is in Freedom Planita for an official trip, has announced that the two nations has sealed their alliance and finally formalize their official diplomatic relations through the recently signed Treaty of Friendship which was witnessed by two countries leaders and other high ranking government officials.

The historic treaty has opened the opportunities for both nations to foster closer cooperation on areas of diplomacy, security, and economy.

As more anti-Marquette and anti-Gay Marriage protests plague the new nation of Fuerteventura, the Crown Prince of Marquette, former governor of the province, fled the nation for his life. It is reported that he just barely made it out of the country and is on his way to the capital at the moment.

This is not the first report of this though. Over the past few days, an estimated 10,000 people have fled the nation back into Marquette. The Marquetien government has still not decided on what its course of action will be, as time runs out and tensions rise.

New pact between Europe and Eurussia

After signing the pact of common defense aerospace, talks between the governments of the two countries continued.
In fact, the European delegation is still in Moscow, present in full force.

The visiting delegation held negotiations and talks with the Eurussian Government and conducted bilateral meetings with the Chancellor.

Both countries have withdrawn their trade embargoes against each other as one of the best developments in the rift between the two neighboring countries which was followed by a sealing of a landmark treaty between the two nations that finally formalized their diplomatic relations. Several days thereafter, an aerospace defense arrangement was signed. And last but not the least, the region's first ever border cooperation agreement that will enable the two giant countries to conduct joint security and defense activities in their borders.

Analysts believe that the gesture of the European President to personally travel to Moscow together with his entire cabinet in the middle of a diplomatic crisis appeased the Eurussians that enabled the two countries solved their differences and turned their rift into an alliance.
